Transgender Procedure Evaluation

Many physicians still require a psychological evaluation for people to initiate gender-affirming medical interventions and surgeries. I follow the most recent WPATH guidelines and have been providing transgender psychological evaluations for eight years. My goal is to help you achieve the gender-affirming procedures you need by addressing the potential risks and benefits of your planned procedure and ensuring that any mental health symptoms are effectively managed.
An evaluation will include assessment forms and screening tools, a general mental health intake, and focused questions exploring your experience of your gender identity and how this has impacted your emotional functioning, your relationships, and your sense of self. Most people who are pursing medical interventions have already thought extensively about these issues and are therefore able to complete the evaluation process in two sessions. Some people may choose to continue seeing me for therapy, if there are additional concerns they want to address before or after the procedure.
